Welcome back to another weekly installment of PCR’s film newsletter! This week sees a wide range of trailers dropped on the internet, along with some interesting news for fans of the iconic Alien franchise (among other stuff). Trailer: The Goldfinch

Warner Pictures have released a brand new trailer for the upcoming adaptation of The Goldfinch, a novel by Donna Tartt. The film stars Nicole Kidman, Ansel Elgort, Sarah Paulson, Finn Wolfhard, Luke Wilson & Jeffrey Wright. Watch the trailer below, along with a look at the first official poster!

Third Alien Prequel in the Works

According to a recent Variety article the Alien franchise is far from finished! They’ve confirmed that not only is a third prequel in the works, but Ridley Scott is returning to direct. The currently untitled film is in the script phase.


Trailer: Annabelle Comes Home

A second trailer for the upcoming summer horror flick Annabelle Comes Home has been released! The film marks the return of Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as Ed and Lorraine Warren, who were last seen three years ago in The Conjuring 2. Annabelle Comes Home haunts theaters worldwide starting from June 26, 2019! Watch the trailer below:

Speaking of Ed and Lorraine, we’ve also got a Conjuring update! Patrick Wilson tweeted a photo of him and Vera Farmiga’s first read through of the script for the sequel!


Casting News: Marwan Kenzari joins The Old Guard for Netflix & Skydance

Marwan Kenzari, who most recently starred in Guy Ritchie’s Aladdin, has signed on for Netflix and Skydance’s adaptation of The Old Guard, with Gina Prince-Bythewood in the director’s seat. He joins a cast so far comprised of Oscar-winner Charlize Theron (Mad Max: Fury Road), and Gotham Awards nominee Kiki Layne (If Beale Street Could Talk).

The Old Guard is an adaptation of the Image Comics title of the same name from Greg Rucka and Leandro Fernández. The plot follows a small covert group of immortal mercenaries who must fight to keep their team together when they discover the existence of a new immortal and the risk of their secret being exposed.


Trailer: In Fabric

A24 has released a brand new look at upcoming award winning horror film In Fabric. The film stars Gwendoline Christie (Star Wars: The Last Jedi), Marianne Jean-Baptiste (Secrets & Lies), Leo Bill (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), Fatma Mohamed (The Duke of Burgundy), and one killer red dress! Eisner Award Winner Tom King to Co-Write Screenplay for The New Gods

Originally announced by TheWrap, and then later confirmed by Ava DuVernay herself via Twitter, Tom King has signed on to co-write the screenplay for upcoming live-action DC epic The New Gods. King is an Eisner Award winning comic writer who recently finished his run on the critically-acclaimed ‘Mister Miracle’ book, of which features characters and worlds that will most likely appear in The New Gods!

DuVernay’s next project which she created, wrote, and directed, is the Netflix mini-series ‘When They See Us’ out worldwide on (yup, you guessed it) Netflix starting from today!


Marc Webb in Talks to Direct Snow White Remake

According to Variety, Marc Webb (The Amazing Spider-Man) is in talks to direct a live-action remake of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs for Disney. This would mark another live-action remake for Disney’s current film slate which in 2019 alone consists of Dumbo, Aladdin, The Lion King, and Lady and the Tramp


Trailer: Onward

Pixar has released a teaser for their upcoming animated feature Onward, set in a “suburban fantasy” world. The film stars Chris Pratt (Avengers: Endgame), Tom Holland (Avengers: Endgame), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (A Bug’s Life), and Octavia Spencer (The Shape of Water).
